US: Two males convicted of murdering Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay

In a case that has remained unsolved for twenty years, a US federal courtroom on Tuesday discovered two males responsible of the 2002 homicide of famed Run-DMC member Jason Mizell, higher recognized by his stage title Jam Master Jay.

Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr, the alleged shooter, have been discovered responsible on all counts. They have been convicted of homicide in the midst of drug trafficking and homicide with a firearm.

Jordan was the godson of the well-known DJ. Washington was an outdated buddy who was staying with the DJ’s sister. All of them grew up in the identical neighborhood within the New York City borough of Queens. 

Both males have been arrested in 2020 and have pleaded not responsible.

What did prosecutors say?

The verdict got here after a month-long trial in US District Court in Brooklyn, throughout which prosecutors referred to as witnesses who have been within the studio the night time Mizell was shot and killed on October 30, 2002. He was 37 years outdated and a father of three.

In their lyrics and stage exhibits, they have been recognized to advocate towards unlawful narcotics. But as Mizell’s music-industry success waned within the Nineteen Nineties, he turned to dealing cocaine to assist fund his music profession, in accordance with prosecutors.

Prior to his demise, Mizell was influential in New York as a cultivator of native expertise, working with younger rappers and co-founding a DJ academy.
