SK Hynix Slumps as Profit Misses; US Intercepts Iran Attack on Bases | Daybreak Europe 7/29/2026

On today’s show, SK Hynix shares hit after quarterly profit misses estimates, despite jumping six-fold. The memory-chip maker also earmarked at least $31 billion in capital spending this year, adding to fears of overinvestment in AI capacity.

Oil jumped after the US said it intercepted an attack on American military bases in the Middle East. US Central Command also says US and Saudi forces carried out strikes on Iran-backed militants in Iraq, in response to attempted drone attacks on US forces.

Plus, Standard Chartered, UBS and Deutsche Bank all announced new share buyback programs after second quarter earnings beat expectations.
