Critics are slamming Pence for his ‘delusional’ interpretation of the GOP midterm results, claiming he is in denial.

Former Vice President Mike Pence rejected former President Donald Trump’s claim that the GOP’s underwhelming performance in the previous year’s midterm elections was due to the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.

On Thursday, Pence expressed his disbelief in the former president’s suggestion that our loss in the midterms was due to overturning Roe v. Wade, stating that he does not agree with that notion.

“I believe that by advocating for the right to life and upholding principles with compassion, and by showing support not only for unborn babies but also for newborns and women facing difficult pregnancies, we can effectively persuade and gain support from others.”

Pence’s comments arrive months after Trump declared that the GOP’s performance in last year’s election wasn’t his fault while pointing to the “abortion issue” as being “poorly handed” by Republicans.

Half of voters in one poll indicated that SCOTUS overturning Roe motivated them to cast their ballots last year while a recent NBC News report pointed to “sweeping victories” for abortion rights supporters in seven states since June 2022.

During his 2024 campaign, the ex-vice president has expressed firm opposition towards abortion and has urged other GOP candidates to support a federal ban on abortions after 15 weeks.

The New York Times mentioned that his political organization, Advancing American Freedom, has taken a more extreme stance by supporting a federal law that would prohibit abortion after approximately six weeks and also seek to establish the legal recognition of fetuses as individuals.

Users on X (formerly Twitter) ridiculed Pence for his perspective on the midterm elections and asserted that “he refuses to accept reality.”
