Parliament invitations Amazon to debate secure on-line purchasing

Members of the European Parliament quiz representatives from online marketplace Amazon on respect for EU rules on product safety, consumer protection and digital platforms. This meeting follows similar discussions with SHEIN, AliExpress and Temu.

As a Very Large Online Platform (VLOP) under the Digital Services Act (DSA), Amazon is subject to enhanced EU oversight. During this session, Members of the European Parliament examine how online marketplaces can better prevent illegal and dangerous products from reaching consumers and assess the effectiveness of EU enforcement tools.

Parliament is also examining how the European Commission enforces these rules within the EU Single Market.
