Chinese President Xi Jinping says he wants to take ties with Germany to a "new level". Xi made the comments in talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who is on his first visit to China since taking office. He is the latest Western leader seeking to reset ties with Beijing. Merz says he wants to deepen economic ties with China, which was Germany’s biggest trading partner last year.
