When the US purchased land from Denmark earlier than

We all know Trump wants to acquire Greenland, but it’s not the first time the US has tried to buy territory from Denmark. And one time, it worked. After World War II, the US offered 100 million dollars’ worth of gold for Greenland, which Denmark refused. But the Scandinavian country did accept a very different offer – selling the former Danish West Indies to the US in 1917.
