Ukraine Russia warfare newest: Poland scrambles warplanes in any case of Ukraine beneath Russian missiles risk
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned the US response to the drone strike on Kryvyi Rih which has killed 18 people, including nine children.
The Ukraine leader thanked many world leaders for their responses following the attack on civilians in his home town before he went on to criticise the response from the US embassy as “surprisingly disappointing”.
“Such a strong country, such a strong people, and yet such a weak reaction. They are afraid to even say the word ‘Russian’ when speaking about the missile that murdered children”, he said on X.
“Yes, the war must end”, he added. “We must not be afraid to pressure the one who continues this war and ignores all the world’s proposals to end it.”
Regional officials said 38 people, including a three-month old baby, were in hospital and over 60 were wounded. Mr Zelensky said a three-year-old girl was among those killed.
Zelensky’s statement comes as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Nato foreign ministers that they would know in a matter of weeks whether Russia is serious about peace or not.
Trump says he’s ‘p*****’ off with Putin over lack of ceasefire deal and threatens more tariffs on Russian oil
The US president called up NBC’s Kristen Welker prior to her Sunday appearance as host of Meet the Press, according to Welker. He told her that he was “p***ed off” after the Russian president called for elections in Ukraine and once again questioned the legitimacy of Volodymyr Zelensky’s government — comments the U.S. president said were unhelpful.
John Bowden reports from Washington DC:
Girl, 3, killed in Russian strike on Zelensky’s hometown, president says
A three-year-old girl was among 18 people killed in a Russian attack on Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Mr Zelensky said nine of the 18 people killed were children as he hit out at Vladimir Putin.
“Staying silent about the fact that it is Russia killing children with ballistic missiles is wrong and dangerous,” he said.
“It only emboldens the scum in Moscow to continue the war and keep ignoring diplomacy.”
Why did Russia escape Trump’s tariffs?
Almost no countries were spared from President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs; even small, uninhabited islands in the Indian Ocean were included in the exhaustive list. But one country was notably missing: Russia.
One of the United States’ largest adversaries was omitted from the list of countries slapped with even the 10 percent baseline tariff – a move that raised some eyebrows given Trump’s previously friendly relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
