Trump’s declare about border shutdown denied by Mexico’s chief; Putin lavishes reward on president-elect: Live
Donald Trump claims to have had a “wonderful” conversation with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum a day after she published a scathing open letter to him about migration, fentanyl trafficking, and tariffs.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that Sheinbaum agreed to “stop migration through Mexico,” which would “effectively” close the southern border.
However, the Mexican president corrected this account on X: “We reiterate that Mexico’s position is not to close borders but to build bridges between governments and between peoples.”
The president-elect has been praised as a “real man” and “intelligent” by Russian President Vladimir Putin who suggested the incoming administration will “find a solution” to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Putin made the remarks in Kazakhstan on Thursday, the first time he has publicly congratulated Trump on his election victory.
In Florida, the president-elect wished Happy Thanksgiving to all, including “Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed”. Trump’s pugnacious holiday messages have become something of a tradition.
And in Connecticut, Democratic lawmakers found themselves the target of bomb threats over the Thanksgiving holiday, similar to those called in against some of Trump’s cabinet picks earlier in the week.

Democrats on the Hill react to Trump’s proposed tariffs
Democrats reacted with consternation to Donald Trump’s vow to impose massive tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico, saying that the president-elect has failed to grasp the potential consequences of his promises and is heading into a “real horror show.”
Senator Richard Blumenthal told CNN on Tuesday that Trump would face a “hugely negative reaction” from the tariffs from US citizens once the effects were felt at home and that he would be “held accountable.”

Biden slams latest Russian attack on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure
While earlier Vladimir Putin praised US President-elect Donald Trump in remarks during a visit to Kazakhstan, President Joe Biden gave the following statement regarding the most recent attack on Ukraine by Russia.
Overnight, Russia carried out a horrific aerial attack against Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities report that Russia launched nearly 200 missiles and drones against Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure, depriving Ukrainian civilians of access to electricity. This attack is outrageous and serves as yet another reminder of the urgency and importance of supporting the Ukrainian people in their defense against Russian aggression.
On this day, my message to the Ukrainian people is clear: the United States stands with you. Earlier this year, and at my direction, the United States began prioritizing air defense exports so they go to Ukraine first. The Department of Defense has delivered hundreds of additional air defense missiles to Ukraine, as a consequence of this decision, and further deliveries are underway. For months, my Administration has been working to help Ukraine increase the resilience of its energy grid in preparation for the winter, and the Department of Defense continues to surge other critical capabilities to Ukraine, including artillery, rockets, and armored vehicles.
Russia continues to underestimate the bravery, resilience, and determination of the Ukrainian people. The United States stands with more than 50 countries in support of Ukraine and its fight for freedom.
