Transfer information LIVE: Liverpool think about daring Kvaratskhelia bid, Man City shut in on Marmoush, Man Utd newest

Arne Slot explains Trent Alexander-Arnold talks amid Real Madrid transfer interest

Clubs across the continent are in the market for January transfer deals as they look to strengthen their squads for the second half of the 2024/25 season with titles, European football and survival all on the line.

Liverpool and Arsenal are rumoured to be circling new arrivals as they battle it out in the Premier League, and Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo appears to be in the Gunners’ sights after injury to Bukayo Saka. The window could see some big exits confirmed with Trent Alexander-Arnold open to negotiate a possible free transfer to Real Madrid and Manchester United looking to sell Marcus Rashford – with a new ambitious swap for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia reportedly on their radar.

They could face a tussle with Liverpool for the Napoli and Georgia winger as Arne Slot seeks the final piece of what looks a title-winning puzzle. Manchester City’s campaign, by contrast, is in need of reviving, and the Premier League champions are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush and 17-year-old Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis this month as they begin their rebuild.

How Ruben Amorim can overhaul Man Utd squad with a helpful lesson from Mikel Arteta

Another is what happened when a European club learned of United’s interest in one of their players. He was told to “forget the Champions League or proper European competition, and you won’t even be competing for the domestic league”. It’s been a consideration for other targets, putting players off Old Trafford. United won’t even have to deal with such hurdles until they can make sales, of course, which isn’t guaranteed.

Milan to make room for Rashford?

AC Milan are apparantly preparing to offload a forward in order to create space in their squad for Marcus Rashford reports the Daily Mirror.

Rashford, who has been on the outskirts of the Manchester United squad, seems likely to leave the club in January and has admitted he is ready for ‘a new challenge’.

Milan have emerged as the most likely destination for the 27-year-old who has already rejected three deals from Saudi Arabia in the hopes of moving to a more competitive league.

Rashford’s £325,000 per week wage at United will be a sticking point though as not many clubs can afford the same fee. The player will either have to take a pay cut to secure a move or United will have to agree to subsidise some of the wages (something they may not want to do).

Liverpool could consider Kvaratskhelia

The Athletic are reporting that Liverpool, though not currently pursuing a move, could in the future consider an attempt to sign Khvicha Kvarartskheila.

The Napoli striker has 30 goals and 29 assists in 107 appearances for the Italian side but is under contract until 2027 meaning to secure his services would require a significant fee from the Premier League leaders.

Liverpool may make their move should it be decided that the forward is to leave Napoli in January in order for the club to finanically benefit from his strong form. There has been no efforts as of yet to negotiate a new deal or an extension with the 23-year-old.

Liverpool are said to be attentive to the situation but have plenty of forward options to call on with the likes of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota all able to play from the left which is Kvaratskheila’s preferred position.

A further consideration is Napoli’s interest in Federico Chiesa who has hardly featured since moving to Anfield. Should any deal include a player swap Liverpool may be able to negotiate a lower price for Kvaratskheila.

Mitchell wanted by European clubs

La Liga side Atletico Madrid and Serie A club AC Milan are both said to be interested in bringing Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell in during this window according to The Sun.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at Selhurst Park this summer and has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal though manager Oliver Glasner hopes to build the team with Mitchell as a key part of the back line.

The left back has started all of Palace’s 20 league games this season, registering three assists.

Casemiro heading to Saudi Arabia?

As Manchester United look to overhaul their squad to better suit manager Ruben Amorim’s vision rumours abound about possible exits for most of their players.

One player who is seemingly on the way out is midfielder Casemiro who the latest rumour being that the 32-year-old has agreed a contract to move to the Saudi Pro League this January.

Casemiro is now behind Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo in Amorim’s pecking order at Old Trafford and his high wage bill means he would be one of the players United’s hierarchy want to move on to cut down on costs.

Casemiro may have already agreed terms to a deal according to some reports.
