Stay and ‘you’ll die’: Florida braces for direct hit from Hurricane Milton | DW News
Florida is bracing for Hurricane Milton which could bring catastrophic damage less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene hit the same area.
Highways were backed up as thousands heeded mandatory evacuation orders. The storm briefly slowed down but has gone back to Category 5 strength.
Milton is expected to make landfall on Wednesday in the Tampa Bay area, home to more than 3 million people.
Tampa’s mayor has warned that anyone choosing to stay behind is likely to be killed.
