Amy Duggar King is breaking her silence on her cousin Joseph Duggar’s arrest. The ‘Holy Disruptor’ author addressed the allegations against the 31-year-old, who was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor on March 18 over a series of alleged incidents with a then-9-year-old girl in 2020. "I am sickened, heartbroken and deeply angry," Amy began in a March 20 statement to People. "My first thoughts are with the victim, a child who deserved to be safe, protected and surrounded by people she could trust." Although the 39-year-old said she was "utterly shocked to hear about these allegations and Joseph’s arrest," she noted, "at the same time, I am not surprised that another alleged predator has emerged from this toxic system." Amy added, "Family ties should never equal automatic trust or access, especially when it comes to the safety of children." Her cousin and Joseph’s brother Josh Duggar, 38, is serving a 12-year prison sentence on child pornography charges.
