INCIDENT: After Manchester City’s draw at Spurs, City captain Rodri said referees "have to be neutral" and claimed people "don’t want City to win" following the decision to allow Tottenham’s first goal in Sunday’s 2–2 draw.

Spurs striker Dominic Solanke appeared to kick through the back of Marc Guehi’s leg before scoring, but VAR deemed there was no foul and referee Rob Jones awarded the goal.

DERMOT’S VERDICT: "Rodri shouldn’t do that [question whether referees are neutral]. It’s a knee-jerk reaction to having lost two points.

"The big debate at the time was whether it was offside, nobody thought of the foul. The City players appeal for offside. The check was for offside.

"There is no doubt Solanke gets the first touch on the ball. Guehi’s stepped across him.

"It’s got to be an on-field decision. There’s no clear and obvious error."
