Protesters in Germany block roads to far-right AfD get together conference | DW News
Demonstrators in eastern Germany have been staging sit-ins and blocking roads to protest a convention of the far-right Alternative for Germany party– the AfD. Police had to clear the way to the two-day conference in the town of Riesa, near Dresden. It’s taking place ahead of federal elections set for late February. The latest polls see the AfD coming in second place. However, Germany’s other parties refuse to work with the AfD and have committed to keeping a so-called firewall in place to keep them out of power.
