Parliament debates human rights and democracy breaches worldwide
Members of the European Parliament are debating human rights, democracy, and rule of law breaches in several countries around the world.
The discussion focuses on three urgent cases: human trafficking and serious human rights violations linked to the recruitment of non-Russian nationals, particularly from African countries, for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine; the arbitrary detention of President Mohamed Bazoum by the military junta in Niger; and the case of Elene Khoshtaria and political prisoners under the Georgian Dream regime in Georgia.
A vote on a resolution is scheduled for the following day, 12 March 2026.
