Lyon vs Man Utd LIVE: Joshua Zirkzee scores late aim to finish comeback for guests in Europa League
An error from Andre Onana gave Lyon the lead in the first half of their Europa League clash with Manchester United.
Needing to perform away from home, after a choosing to be drawn into a war of words, the United goalkeeper failed to cover a curling from free from Thiago Almada who swept the hosts into the lead.
Though their time on the ball was limited Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes both had clear chances turned wide of the target which gives Ruben Amorim’s men some hope heading into the second half.
Leny Yoro then equalised right at the end of the half with a headed effort that turned Manuel Ugarte’s volley into the bottom corner to set up the second half perfectly.
Lyon have never beaten United in competitive fixtures and the last two times the Premier League have played here they have come from behind to draw. The hosts have won six of their last seven matches across all competitions and will be confident of beating a vulnerable United side despite the fact that Amorim’s men are undefeated in European competition this season.
