Kamala Harris Endorses Jasmine Crockett In Texas Senate Race
Former Vice President Kamala Harris endorsed Rep. Jasmine Crockett in Texas’ Democratic Senate primary on Friday, recording a robocall backing a candidate many in the party think would doom them to a loss in the November election.
“Texas has the chance to send a fighter like Jasmine Crockett to the United States Senate,” Harris says in the call, which was first reported by The Texas Tribune. “Jasmine has the experience and record to hold Donald Trump and his billionaire cronies accountable.”
Crockett is running against state Rep. James Talarico, with the winner potentially facing scandal-plagued right-wing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The primary is on Tuesday, and early voting is already underway.
Operatives in both parties believe Talarico, who often speaks about his faith and reaches out to independent and conservative voters, would have a far better chance of defeating him than Crockett, who has insisted she can win simply by turning out additional Democrats in a state Trump won by 13 percentage points in 2024.

Polling in the race has been scattershot, with recent surveys giving each candidate substantial leads.
Crockett, who was a national co-chair of Harris’ unsuccessful run for president in 2024, has previously described Harris as a mentor and said she discussed running for Senate with Harris before she decided to enter the race in November.
