Judge Dismisses Blake Lively’s Harassment Claim Against Justin Baldoni | E! News
Blake Lively is facing a major setback in her legal battle against her ‘It Ends With Us’ costar and director Justin Baldoni. On April 2, a New York judge dismissed 10 of the actress’ 13 claims, including her allegations of sexual harassment. The ruling comes more than a year after Blake first filed her lawsuit, and months after Justin’s counter‑suit was dismissed. According to the court order obtained by E! News, the judge determined Blake’s sexual harassment claims lacked a substantial connection to California law and did not meet federal employment standards because she was classified as an independent contractor, not an employee. However, the judge allowed several claims to move forward, including retaliation, breach of contract and aiding and abetting retaliation. The court acknowledged there is “some direct evidence” suggesting an alleged smear campaign against Blake, writing that a jury should decide whether the backlash she faced was organic, or the result of deliberate actions. Blake’s attorney confirmed she will proceed to trial, emphasizing the case remains focused on retaliation and reputational harm. The trial is currently scheduled to begin May 18, per the BBC.
