On today’s show. US President Donald Trump issued Iran an ultimatum on Saturday to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days or have its power plants bombed. Tehran threatened to “completely” close the corridor if attacked.

Asian stocks fell, Treasuries tumbled and gold sank in a selloff across assets after the US and Iran upped the ante in a war now in its fourth week.

German conservatives led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz have secured an election win in a state held by the Social Democrats for 35 years. Meanwhile, in France, the far-right fell short of taking control of some major cities during Sunday’s municipal elections.
