ICC opens hearings into ex-Philippines chief Duterte | DW News
Pre-trial hearings have opened at the International Criminal Court in The Hague against Rodrigo Duterte, the former president of the Philippines. Duterte is facing three counts of crimes against humanity over his deadly anti-drugs campaign. Prosecutors allege he authorized dozens of killings and personally selected targets. Duterte denies the charges and has waived his right to attend. Judges have 60 days to decide whether to confirm the case for trial. With reporting from DW’s correspondent Rosie Birchard.
