How the Israeli authorities is funding unlawful settlement growth within the West Bank

The Israeli government continues to accelerate the expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank, which most countries consider a violation of international law. A UN report says the policy has displaced tens of thousands of Palestinians over the past year and a half.

A group of former diplomats has signed an open letter warning that EU credibility — and prospects for a Palestinian state — are rapidly fading. They are calling for a ban on trade with settlements, sanctions on violent settlers, and a review of EU-Israel ties.

We spoke with one of the signatories, Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff, the former EU envoy to the Palestinian territories.
