Hegseth Says He’s ‘Quite Proud’ Despite Signal Message Leak
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking at a news conference in Manila, says the US is seeking to re-establish deterrence to ensure safe navigation of ships around the globe. The Pentagon chief made the comments after a meeting with Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as part of a trip to Asia that will also include a visit to Japan. Hegseth, facing calls to resign for sharing Houthi attack plans with other US officials over the Signal app, said he’s "quite proud" of the mission.
