Greenland slams ‘highly aggressive’ visits by Usha Vance and Mike Waltz after Trump’s takeover threats: Live

Trump says he was ‘told’ that Venezuelans deported to El Salvador ‘went through a very strong vetting process.’

Greenland‘s prime minister has slammed the Trump administration’s “highly aggressive” move to deploy a delegation of senior officials to the territory this week.

Tensions between Greenland and the U.S. are high following President Donald Trump‘s repeated threats to annex the Danish territory.

Relations worsened this weekend after it was reported that Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz and the energy secretary Chris Wright will visit Greenland, in addition to Second Lady Usha Vance arriving later in the week.

Greenland’s prime minister Mute B. Egede was quoted in a Greenlandic newspaper Sunday questioning why Waltz was visiting.

“We are now at a level where it can in no way be characterized as a harmless visit from a politician’s wife,” Egede said, according to Greenland’s Sermitsiaq newspaper. “What is the national security adviser doing in Greenland? The only purpose is to demonstrate power over us.”

“He is Trump’s confidential and closest advisor, and his presence in Greenland alone will certainly make the Americans believe in Trump’s mission, and the pressure will increase after the visit,” Egede added.

Vance’s visit was announced by the White House Sunday and said she would be accompanied by a United States delegation.

Prospective sponsors also have the chance to have their logos featured on event signage, “naming rights for key areas or elements,” custom-branded baskets, branded snacks or beverages, mentions in social media posts and press releases and can access an “invite-only brunch” hosted by First Lady Melania Trump, according to CNN.

Watch: Bernie Sanders threatens to ditch ABC interview when asked if AOC should run for Senate

The Vermont Independent was speaking to ABC’s This Week Sunday when he abruptly got out of his chair and walked off camera. He accused Jonathan Karl of “doing nonsense” after he asked, “Would you like to see her joining the Senate?”

The interview comes as Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez have gone on a speaking tour and targeted the nation’s ‘oligarchy.’

Ocasio-Cortez has been floated for Senate as some Democrats were angered by current New York Senator Chuck Schumer’s decision to not block a Republican spending bill.

Former Speaker says Trump has ‘broken the Democratic party’

The ex-congressman was interviewed on New York’s WABC 770 AM as part of “The Cats Roundtable,” a show hosted by billionaire John Catsimatidis. McCarthy told listeners that Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries were no longer being looked to by voters or even their fellow lawmakers as leaders of their party.

McCarthy insisted the real figures of leadership in the party were Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders, who have embarked on a nationwide tour to rally disaffected Democrats in the wake of Trump’s inauguration. The pair have brought in crowds numbering in the tens of thousands in cities including Denver and Tuscon.

Trump allies tell White House to dial back Musk interviews over Social Security concerns – report

Allies of President Donald Trump have told the White House to dial back Elon Musk interviews over Social Security concerns, according to a report.

Trump insiders have acknowledged there is “concern” around some of the comments Musk has made about Social Security in interviews, including on Joe Rogan’s podcast where he likened it to a “Ponzi scheme,” NBC News reports.

Advisers reportedly told the outlet that Trump allies on Wall Street and in Congress have relayed to the White House their concerns and suggested that the billionaire needs to be more scripted or taken off air.

“Of course they don’t want their Social Security cut,” an anonymous Trump official reportedly told NBC News. “So if they hear something on the news that Elon Musk is saying, that we should do something with Social Security — of course there might be some concerns.

“But the only concern they have to worry about is what the president of the United States is saying and what he’s doing. We haven’t touched Social Security. We’re not going to touch Social Security.”

Expert says he doesn’t think Trump would defy a SCOTUS order

A legal expert and professor at Princeton said he doesn’t believe President Donald Trump will dismiss a ruling by the Supreme Court – should it get to that level.

“I do not expect, as some people expect, President Trump, to defy a direct order of the Supreme Court. He may defy the district judge on the grounds that the district judge is now trenching upon executive power under the Constitution, getting out of his own lane, usurping the authority of the president,” Robert P. George told The Hill Sunday.

There have been some questions about what will happen if Trump continues to defy court orders. It is causing some to raise alarms as they call it a ‘Constitutional crisis’ and nothing it is not something that’s happened in the U.S.’s history.

Trump to invite KC Chiefs to White House

Trump said he plans to bring the Kansas City Chiefs to the White House.

However, it’s not to recognize them for their most recent season that ended in a Super Bowl loss, but their 2020 season.

In that year, the team won the Super Bowl but their traditional White House visit was postponed because of COVID.

“I look forward to having the Eagles. And one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that, because they missed their turn because of Covid,” Trump told conservative commentator Clay Travis on Sunday, according to CNN.
