German-Iranian human rights activist launched from Iranian jail | DW News
Nahid Taghavi, a German-Iranian activist, has been released from Iranian custody after more than four years. 70-year-old Taghavi was arrested during a trip to Tehran in 2020. She was sentenced to ten years in jail for allegedly spreading propaganda against the state and for involvement in an illegal group. She claims to have been tortured and held in solitary confinement for months.
DW speaks to Daniela Sepehri, who together with Nahid Taghavi’s daughter, helped campaign for Nahid’s release.
