German Chancellor Merz meets Israeli PM Netanyahu in Jerusalem | DW News
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has been meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem. Merz is on his first state visit since taking office, at a time when relations are strained over the war in Gaza.
At a joint press conference, Merz called for a two-state solution at the end of the Gaza ceasefire process. He also urged Israel to halt annexations in the West Bank. Netanyahu praised what he called "open and honest" talks with the German chancellor and said opportunities for peace were at hand.
