Is ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ renewed for season 23? As its 22nd season continues, Shondaland confirmed that the ABC medical drama will be back for season 23. Given that Grey’s has been on the air since 2005, its longevity has become a longstanding joke for fans, especially considering the staff at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital have endured explosions, plane crashes, active shooters and enough romance and heartbreak to last a lifetime. And while Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey has borne the brunt of the trauma endured on the series, the 56-year-old never once considered hanging up her scrub cap. “That would make no sense, emotionally or financially,” Ellen, who along with Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr., is among the only cast members to be part of all 22 seasons of the series, told ‘El Pais’ in 2024 of why she’d never fully leave.
