Discussing violence in opposition to ladies within the digital age with Jackie Fox

To mark International Women’s Day, Members of the European Parliament hear the testimony of Jackie Fox, who campaigns in memory of her daughter, a victim of cyberbullying.

Since her daughter Nicole, known as Coco, died by suicide in 2018 following online bullying, Jackie Fox has campaigned tirelessly for stronger protection for victims. She advocated for the introduction of “Coco’s Law” in Ireland. This legislation makes it an offence to share or threaten to share intimate images on digital devices without consent. It also criminalises severe online bullying.

Her testimony comes as MEPs also react to the new EU Gender Equality Strategy, presented by the Commission on 5 March 2026. The European Parliament had already outlined its priorities for the strategy in a resolution adopted in November 2025.
