After Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola Coughlan, officially stepped away from her role as the society’s anonymous gossip columnist, Lady Whistledown leaves a cryptic message for fans to anticipate her return. Showrunner Jess Brownell explained in a Feb. 26 Tudum article that after Penelope’s major character growth arc, it no longer made sense for her to remain in the role.
