Bridesmaids could have looked very different. Writer Annie Mumolo revealed that the hit comedy originally included an entire Las Vegas storyline that never made it to the big screen. Speaking on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show, Mumolo explained that producer Judd Apatow decided to scrap the Vegas plot after a wave of movies like The Hangover and What Happens in Vegas hit theaters around the same time. The last-minute change led to a rewrite that ultimately inspired one of the film’s most memorable moments: Kristen Wiig’s chaotic airplane scene. Mumolo also shared details from the original storyline, which would have seen Wiig’s character separated from the bridal party, getting into trouble in Vegas and even ending up with a black eye after a wild altercation.
