The far-right Freedom Party has been given a mandate to lead the Austria, after the collapse of coalition talks between centrists. President Alexander Van der Bellen has tasked the Freedom Party’s leader Herbert Kickl with forming a new government. If he’s successful, Austria would have the country’s first government led by the far-right since World War II.
