As the second largest get together, will the AfD have a job to play in shaping German coverage? | DW News
Germany’s new parliament is convening for the first time today after February’s election. It will face enormous challenges, like boosting the ailing economy, and contending with the US shift away from Europe.
The parliament will also have the biggest number of far-right lawmakers since the second world war. The AfD, or Alternative for Germany, finished behind the CDU, led by Friedrich Merz, in the federal elections.
Despite being the second-biggest party in the Bundestag, other parties have ruled out working with the AfD.
