Sam Neill Battled Pneumonia Before His Death, His Costar Says | E! News
Sam Neill’s friend and ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ costar Rima Te Wiata shared the late actor battled pneumonia before his “sudden” death July 13. “I think he would be like," Te Wiata told the New Zealand Herald, "‘For goodness sake, I got over my cancer. And now look, now I get pneumonia. What next?’” The New Zealand actor was previously diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, stage 3 blood cancer, in 2022 before announcing he was cancer-free in April. Though Te Wiata said he was not afraid of dying, she emphasized that he’d be “annoyed” by the way in which he went.
