The EU should proceed to welcome new members
From “too poor to participate?” to hosting the Council Presidency.
Ireland’s Taoiseach Micheál Martin delivered a strong message to the European Parliament to kickstart the Irish Council Presidency, “We are ready to get things done.’’.
Supporting enlargement to protect the values of the Union was just one of the three main priorities presented this week.
Over the next six months, Ireland will focus on:
✔️The competitiveness of Europe’s economy;
✔️Protecting the fundamental values on which our Union is built;
✔️The security of our citizens.
Not just “good craic”, the Emerald Isle is already embodying the words of an Irish expression – “Tús maith leath na hoibre”.
Meaning a good start is half the work.
