Mother Nature has given Whoopi Goldberg the ultimate excuse for missing work. The July 6 episode of ‘The View’ saw Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin and guest host Michelle Buteau at the host table for the first time since the show’s weeklong 4th of July hiatus—but Goldberg was notably absent. In a video message, the ‘Sister Act’ star explained that she was stuck in Italy because of ongoing eruptions from Mount Etna, which grounded air travel. However, the Oscar winner went on to assure fans that she would try to make it back to the United States—and the show—as soon as possible. Coincidentally, Goldberg was one of three hosts missing that day due to inclement weather. Behar revealed during the broadcast that Sara Haines would be gone while she dealt with “storm damage,” and Ana Navarro was also stranded after her flight from Miami to New York was canceled.
