A protected place to age: Inside France’s first queer senior residence | Focus on Europe

In southern Lyon, the House of Diversity opened its doors in autumn 2025, becoming the first residence of its kind in France. Designed for LGBTQ+ people aged 55 and over, it offers much more than housing: it provides protection from isolation, a sense of community, and a safe place to grow older with dignity and support.
