Bill Gates accused the late Jeffrey Epstein of attempting to extort him to "re-engage" following their 2014 fallout by trying to blackmail him over infidelity in his marriage to Melinda French Gates. "Based on what has been released in the files, Epstein was working to use information about my infidelities—in addition to many lies that he layered on top—to pressure me to re-engage with him," the Microsoft co-founder said in his June 10 closed-door opening statement to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, transcribed on his website. "He was unsuccessful in this effort, but it shows some of the ways he tried to leverage his interactions with me to further his agenda."
