Israel and Lebanon maintain first direct talks in 40 years | DW News

In Washington DC, Israeli and Lebanese envoys have held direct negotiations – for the first time in 40 years. The Israeli ambassador to the US has said both countries are united in wanting to free Lebanon from Hezbollah.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is mediating the negotiations, has called them a ‘historic opportunity’. DW speaks to Melani Cammett, Professor of International Affairs at Harvard University.
