‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Is Getting a Sequel: What You Need to Know | E! News
Netflix confirmed that a sequel to ‘KPop Demon Hunters’, which is nominated for two Oscars, is officially getting a sequel. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans are returning to write and direct, giving fans a new chapter in the HUNTR/X saga. “I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters,” Maggie told Netflix’s Tudum in an interview published March 12. “There’s so much more to this world we have built, and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning.” Chris added, “These characters are like family to us, their world has become our second home. We’re excited to write their next chapter, challenge them, and watch them evolve—and continue pushing the boundaries of how music, animation, and story can come together.” Although Netflix did not reveal when the sequel would be premiering on their streaming platform, they previously shared that the first film had amassed over 500 million views since its June 2025 debut. It also became an awards season favorite, picking up the Critics Choice Award and Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Golden”—categories the movie is also nominated for at the upcoming March 15 Oscars.
