Christina Applegate Calls Her Anchorman Salary “Offensive” | E! News
Christina Applegate knew her worth then and she knows it now. While promoting her new memoir ‘You With the Sad Eyes’ on ‘The View’ March 4, the actress detailed being insulted by a low salary she was allegedly offered for ‘Anchorman.’ “When they came in with the initial offer, it was, you know, a little offensive," Christina explained, "and I said I can’t. I know my worth, and I can’t do that.” However, she revealed she ended up taking on the role of news reporter Veronica Corningstone in the 2004 comedy because of costar Will Ferrell and screenwriter Adam Mckay giving her a portion of their salaries. “They wanted me bad enough, and they said, ‘Well, we’re gonna chip in," Christina said. "Thank god they did because it was one of the best experiences of my entire life.” E! News has reached out to Apatow Productions and Dreamworks for comment, but didn’t immediately hear back.
