Four years of Russia’s battle of aggression towards Ukraine – Extraordinary plenary session
Four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Parliament holds an extraordinary plenary session to mark the anniversary and reaffirm the EU’s unwavering support for Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, addresses MEPs remotely from Kyiv, followed by a debate on the latest developments in Russia’s war of aggression and Europe’s contributions to a just peace and sustained security for Ukraine. A resolution will be put to a vote at 11:30.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said the session sends an “important signal” of the EU’s continued commitment to stand with Ukraine.
Since February 2022, the EU and Parliament have condemned Russia’s aggression, imposed sanctions, and provided financial, political, military and humanitarian assistance. Parliament has also strongly backed Ukraine’s EU membership bid and opened a permanent presence in Kyiv in 2025.
