Rare thundersnow buries a big swath of the northeastern US | DW News
A fierce winter storm has hit northeastern parts of the United States. The heaviest snow is expected overnight. Over 40 million people are facing blizzard warnings and authorities in several states ordered people to stay home on Monday. In New York, much of the city has already disappeared under a thick blanket of snow and forecasters warn this could be the biggest blizzard in nearly a decade in some places. The storm has disrupted public transit and some airports have suspended operations. We spoke to meteorologist Matthew Cappucci in Orlando about the storm’s potential impact.
