Matt Weston and Charlotte Bankes have been selected as Team GB’s flagbearers for the Closing Ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Milano Cortina 2026 saw Weston become the most successful British man in Winter Olympic history, and the first British athlete to ever win two medals at the same Olympic Winter Games with gold in the men’s skeleton followed by gold in the mixed team event alongside Tabby Stoecker two days later.
He is the first male athlete to win a gold medal for Team GB in an individual event since figure skater Robin Cousins at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Winter Games.
Weston also set five track records in his quest for double gold at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, cementing his place in the Skeleton and Team GB history books.
