The US Supreme Court has struck down most of Donald Trump’s tariffs on global trading partners. Justices ruled by 6 votes to 3 that Trump lacked the authority under an emergency powers law to impose the levies. This past year, Trump placed sweeping tariffs on dozens of nations that trade with the US. The president has called the case one of the most important in US history, saying a ruling against him would be an economic body blow to the nation.
