UN management and world challenges: Annalena Baerbock addresses MEPs
Annalena Baerbock presents her “Better Together” vision, calling for unity in response to global crises.
Her presidency focuses on implementing the UN80 reform agenda, strengthening the effectiveness of the United Nations, advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and promoting an inclusive General Assembly with strong engagement from civil society and young people, alongside a clear commitment to gender equality.
Baerbock is the fifth woman to serve as President of the United Nations General Assembly. She previously served as Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs from December 2021 to May 2025 and was a Member of the German Parliament from 2013 until June 2025. From 2018 to 2022, she was co-chair of the Green Party and earlier in her career worked for a Member of the European Parliament.
