US equity futures extend their decline off the back of President Trump’s worse-than-expected tariff rates. Trump leaves the door open to reducing the rate if countries make a "phenomenal" offer. French President Emmanuel Macron urges EU firms to pause US investments until the trade war subsides. Oil prices sank further on a dimmer global outlook. Nandini Ramakrishnan of JPMorgan sees US businesses and consumers shouldering the brunt of tariff price rises. The most immediate near-term effect of tariffs will be a negative for US manufacturing, says Veronica Clark of Citi.
