Iceland volcano erupts for the seventh time in lower than a 12 months | DW News

Iceland’s Sundhnukagigar volcanic system has erupted for the seventh time in less than a year. Most of the 4,000 residents of the nearby fishing village of Grindavik left after the first eruption last December and sold their homes to the government. But some 50 houses were still occupied and had to be evacuated after the most recent eruption. The local Blue Lagoon resort was also evacuated. Authorities say they don’t expect any damage to infrastructure, and that the eruption doesn’t pose a danger to flights.
