Zelenskyy from Ukraine is heading to the United States to attend the UN summit.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will join other global leaders in New York on Monday for the United Nations’ high-level summit. The summit aims to address the neglected Sustainable Development Goals for economic growth.
The UN General Assembly in New York formally starts on Tuesday with speeches from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Zelenskyy, among others.
On Wednesday, the UN Security Council has planned an open meeting regarding Ukraine. Simultaneously, the Atlantic Council think tank will present the Global Citizen Award to Scholz, Zelenskyy, and other political and business figures.
The upcoming UN General Assembly, which lasts for a week, will prioritize the revitalization of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals are designed to address issues such as poverty, hunger, inadequate education, and insufficient healthcare.
In 2015, nations worldwide established these primary objectives for global progress, primarily focusing on eradicating hunger and extreme poverty by 2030.
The UN has fallen short of its target due to various setbacks such as the pandemic, the Ukraine war, and a debt crisis in poor countries.
