Women’s rights and access to abortion

In light of International Safe Abortion Day on 28 September, Parliament’s women’s rights committee is organising a hearing with experts on the current state of play on women’s reproductive health rights.

Women’s reproductive health has long been a target of anti-gender movements, and women’s rights have been steadily eroded in many countries. A significant proportion of the committee’s work over the past few years has been dedicated to this topic, as there has been a backlash against women’s rights and gender equality in Europe and elsewhere. The committee has consistently been calling for better protection of women’s rights and more funding.
