Trump needs Happy Thanksgiving to ‘radical left lunatics’; Mexico president clarifies name on border, tariffs: Live

Trump’s Mexico border claims stumps New York Times reporter

Donald Trump has wished Happy Thanksgiving to all, including “Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country, but who have miserably failed”. Since he entered politics, the president-elect’s pugnacious holiday messages have become something of a tradition.

The president-elect claims to have had a “wonderful” conversation with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum a day after she published a scathing open letter to him about migration, fentanyl trafficking, and tariffs.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Sheinbaum agreed to “stop migration through Mexico,” which would “effectively” close the southern border.

The Mexican president corrected this account on X: “We reiterate that Mexico’s position is not to close borders but to build bridges between governments and between peoples.”

Meanwhile, at Mar-a-Lago, Trump welcomed Mark Zuckerberg for dinner just months after the president-elect threatened to throw the Meta chief in prison if he attempted to interfere in the election.

Stephen Miller, who was tapped to serve as Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy, confirmed the meeting to Fox News. A Meta spokesperson told Politico that Zuckerberg was “grateful” for the invitation.

Greeting the vice president and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff upon arrival were Micheal Curtain Jr., CEO of DC Central Kitchen, and Joy McIntyre, director of guest experience.

Also present were Ella Emhoff, Cole Emhoff and Greenley Littlejohn, Maya Harris and Tony West, and Meena Harris and her daughters, Amara and Leela.

Harris and her family entered the industrial-scale kitchen just before 11: 30 a.m. and took up positions at three large tables set up in a U-shape with big plastic bins of collard greens, empty plastic bins, and cutting boards. On the other side of the kitchen, workers and volunteers were sealing completed meals.

All wearing baseball caps with the DC Central Kitchen logo, the family washed their hands, put on gloves and went to their stations where they were shown how to take the stem out of the center of the collard greens.

“This is not my first rodeo,” Ella Emhoff said while de-stemming the greens, while Meena Harris explained how she likes to cook and pickle them.

The vice president asked one of the DC Central Kitchen chefs how they cook them, explaining how she uses garlic and brown sugar.

“Everything in this family is a competition,” Meena said, which Harris then repeated with a laugh, “Everything in this family is a competition.”

Workers bustled around taking full buckets out and bringing in new ones.

A reporter asked the vice president what she was making for dinner, to which she replied that there would be turkey, ham, her famous cornmeal stuffing, sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, string beans brussel sprouts, salad, and dinner rolls.

Asked what was next for her, the vice president responded: “Thanksgiving dinner.”

Texas governor threatens to pull children’s hospital funding over doctor’s viral post

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has threatened a children’s hospital with “consequences” after a doctor posted a viral TikTok telling patients they’re not legally obligated to tell a hospital their citizenship status.

On November 1, a new executive order went into effect requiring Texas hospitals that accept Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Plan to ask patients if they’re US citizens. The question now appears on intake forms at hospitals across the state, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Katie Hawkinson has the story.

Trump border czar blames press for cabinet bomb threats

The incoming Trump administration “border czar” is blaming negative press coverage of him and other members of the president-elect’s team for a rash of threats against him and his colleagues.

Putin congratulates Trump on election win, does not believe he is safe

Russian President Vladimir Putin praised U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday as an experienced and intelligent politician, but said he did not believe Trump was safe after attempts on his life.

Trump was wounded in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania in July. In a separate incident in September, a man was charged with attempted assassination after allegedly positioning himself with a rifle at one of Trump’s Florida golf courses.

Speaking to reporters in Kazakhstan after a summit, Putin said he had been shocked by the way the U.S. election campaign had unfolded.

He cited “the absolutely uncivilized methods used to battle against Trump, up to and including an assassination attempt – and more than once”.

“By the way, in my opinion, he is not safe now,” said Putin.

“Unfortunately, in the history of the United States various incidents have happened. I think he (Trump) is intelligent and I hope he’s cautious and understands this.”

Putin, who is himself heavily protected, said he had been even more shocked though by how Trump’s family and children had been criticized by political opponents during the U.S. election campaign.

He called such behavior “revolting” and said in Russia not even “bandits” would resort to such methods.

Talking about what he described as the Biden administration’s decision to escalate the war in Ukraine by allowing Kyiv to strike Russia with Western missiles, Putin speculated that it could be a ploy to either help Trump by giving him something to roll back or a way of making his life more difficult with Russia.

Either way, Putin said he thought Trump would “find the solution” and said Moscow was ready for dialogue.
