Sam Altman to Join Microsoft Following OpenAI Ouster

SAN FRANCISCO—Microsoft stated it’s hiring Sam Altman to helm a brand new superior artificial-intelligence analysis crew, after his bid to return to OpenAI fell aside Sunday with the board that fired him declining to conform to the proposed phrases of his reinstatement.

Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella posted on X late Sunday that Altman and Greg Brockman, OpenAI’s president and cofounder who resigned Friday in protest over Altman’s ouster, will lead its crew alongside unspecified colleagues. Nadella stated Microsoft was dedicated to its partnership with OpenAI and that it will transfer rapidly to supply Altman and Brockman with “the resources needed for their success.”
