Safe and accessible abortion
The European Citizens’ Initiative "My Voice, My Choice: For Safe and Accessible Abortion" reached over 1 million validated signatures, which meets the threshold required under EU law to become a European Commission proposal and potentially a new law.
My Voice, My Choice wants to make women’s lives safer, freer and better; wherever they live in the EU, and whatever conditions they may find themselves in. That’s why they want to make abortion safe and accessible for all women in the EU.
The organisers of My Voice, My Choice will now present their initiative in the women’s rights and gender equality committee with EU commissioner for equality Hadja Lahbib. Lina Galvez, chair of the women’s rights and gender equality committee and Cristina Guarda, vice-chair of the committee on petitions will lead the hearing.
